All those pretty pots I threw last week, I sadly ruined this week!
I just hate when everything goes wrong!
I tried hand building on top of two vessels which completely collapsed. In hindsight, I realize the slab clay was too thin. Also I tried smoothing out the inside of the vessels with water which made them damp which made them fold in on themselves.
Grrrrrr…hours wasted!
But not all was lost. Next time I now know what I need to do to succeed.
SLAB = THICKER + DRIER
I did create two pieces which turned out pretty well:
This little dude totally needs a hat!
Ahh, I guess there’s always next week!
I’m so with you on the ‘hate it when things go wrong’. Tried throwing a really large bowl this morning (for my sisters 50th)… it was looking really good and then just before I removed it from the wheel it collapsed. So frustrating. But I tried another this afternoon and it was fine. I love the dimpled bowl, and the wonderful picture on your home page – it must be a while since I’ve visited properly rather than just through Reader. Hope next week goes better.
Do you ever feel like you are in an overworked bubble? I barely sit down long enough to write my own blog, yet alone look for others. I just checked out your blog and found that kiln fascinating! I subscribed and look forward to seeing what you are up to!
