Greetings from Potterville!
I thought I’d share some of the cute creatures I’ve made recently.
The vessels above are actually containers I would like to add succulent plants to. I guess they could also be pencil jars, but I’m thinking plants. Here is the next step of adding underglazes for a bit of detail:
They were a lot of fun to make.
Next, I have some trinket dishes and bird vessels. I sold every single bird I’ve made thus far, so I thought it would be a good idea to make some more. I just made a whole bunch but, this big dummy forgot to take any pictures ;)
Here is another fun project on the horizon. A friend of mine, Kate, just launched her candle company WicksandsticksRI. She is a fellow creative, avid knitter and candlestick maker. I am creating some test candle jars. All different styles. As soon as we work out all the kinks, we are going to collaborate on a lovely smelling home accent. I have some knitting ideas to add to the clay too…. so stay tuned.
All in all, I have many pots sitting around in all different stages of limbo. Due to one more hit by the lovely pandemic, all of our glazes in the studio have run bare. Because of the second forced shut down, there isn’t the revenue generated yet to invest in a new round of glazes. And then the second whammy, there is a national shortage on glazes due to the global pandemic. ……..what can you do? Well, I’m of the philosophy of letting that sh*t go. Aint much you can do about all the stuff going on around us except choosing how you react to it.
So, I might not see any pots completed for a bit, but I’m still plugging along. We’ll get there when we get there.
For now, my family and I are nestled in safe. We are enjoying the winter snow and hunkered down until spring.
Mark my words, SPRING WILL COME!!!
